AQS Management Systems has the capabilities for doing EMS audits for Federal sites. AQS Management Systems and its staff have conducted many external EMS audits for many Federal facilities including the Department of Energy encompassing multiple locations. The scope of these audits has included ISO 14001 as well as specific Federal Department requirements. Upon successful completion of the audit, AQS Management Systems will provide an audit report, letter and certificate indicating conformance to the standard and or standards audited. Also, AQS staff has performed ISO 14001 gap analyses, audits, and training for the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Coast Guard, Veteran’s Administration Hospitals, the U.S. Army, and the General Service Administration. Dr. Brent Smith is a Senior Trainer/Consultant in Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS), and Quality Management Systems (QMS) for AQS Management Systems. He also is an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of New Orleans, teaching Environmental Management and Safety Management courses, an EMS Lead Auditor for the American Petroleum Institute, and an EMS, OHSMS, and QMS Lead Auditor for DNV. Dr. Smith has served as an ISO 14001 consultant for several companies, preparing manuals and procedures, conducting training, conducting gap analyses, and leading internal audit teams. Formerly, Dr. Smith was an Environmental Manager and Quality Assurance Specialist with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Strategic Petroleum Reserve Project Management Office and served as the ISO 14001 Management Representative, 14001 and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, and Customer Focus Advocate. As the Management Representative, he prepared training course materials and the ISO 14001 manual. Dr. Smith was detailed to other DOE offices, to EPA Region 6, and to the Coast Guard, in order to serve as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor for three other DOE offices, two Veterans Administration Hospitals, the General Services Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard. He holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, an M.A. in Social Sciences from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a B.A. in Anthropology from LSU. Dr. Smith has over 30 years of experience in the environmental field, over 5 years of experience in quality, and is a Registered RABQSA Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor, Registered RABQSA Quality Management Systems Principal Auditor, a Certified Environmental Health and Safety Manager, a Registered Environmental Manager, and a Certified Environmental Professional in Louisiana. AQS Management Systems provides consulting, training, coaching, and project assistance in support of organizational improvement and implementation of international management system standards.
